welcome aboard

Ships of Hagoth is a digital-first literary magazine featuring creative nonfiction and theoretical essays by members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Where other LDS-centric publications often look inward at the LDS tradition, we seek literary works that look outward through the curious, charitable lens of faith.

The unauthorized downloading of movies like "De Dhakka" not only harms the film industry economically but also contributes to a culture of piracy. It is essential for consumers to opt for legal means of accessing digital content, supporting creators and the industry. Awareness about the legal consequences and the broader impact on the economy and employment can deter individuals from engaging in such activities. The fight against piracy requires a collective effort from governments, industry stakeholders, and consumers to promote a culture of respect for intellectual property rights.

India has established a legal framework to combat digital piracy, primarily through the Copyright Act, 1957, and amendments thereto, particularly the Copyright (Amendment) Act, 2002. These laws provide for the protection of original literary, dramatic, musical, and artistic works. The Information Technology Act, 2000, also plays a crucial role in regulating cybercrimes, including those related to digital piracy.

The rise of digital platforms and increasing internet accessibility have made it easier for people to download movies illegally. Websites and applications that facilitate such activities often lure users with free content, bypassing copyright laws and depriving creators of their rightful earnings. "De Dhakka" is no exception to this trend, with several reports indicating that the movie is available for free download on various piracy sites.

The term "De Dhakka Download Movie" refers to the unauthorized downloading of the Indian Marathi-language film "De Dhakka." Released in 2011, "De Dhakka" is a comedy film directed by Sachin Khot and produced by Sujit Mondal, Vishal Vijay, and Mahesh Manjrekar. "De Dhakka" is a humorous take on the common man's struggle in Mumbai, focusing on two main characters who get entangled in a series of misadventures. The film received mixed reviews from critics but managed to entertain the audience with its light-hearted comedy and satire. Given its moderate success, the film has garnered a certain level of interest among viewers, which unfortunately has led to instances of illegal downloading.

We are hoping—for “one must needs hope”—for creative nonfiction, theoretical essays, and craft essays that seek radical new ways to explore and express theological ideas; that are, like Hagoth, “exceedingly curious.”

We favor creative nonfiction that can trace its lineage back to Michel de Montaigne. Whether narrative, analytical, or devotional, these essays lean ruminative, conversational, meandering, impressionistic, and are reluctant to wax didactic.

As for theoretical essays: we welcome work that playfully and charitably explores the wide world of arts & letters—especially works created from differing religious, non-religious, and even irreligious perspectives—through the peculiar lens of a Latter-day Saint.

We read and publish submissions as quickly as possible, and accept simultaneous submissions.
